MESJ (Mississippians Educating for Smart Justice) is a non-profit organization incorporated under Mississippi law. We are concerned about criminal justice issues:
The abolition of capital punishment
Ending racial discrimination in prosecution, jury selection, sentencing, and parole
Ensuring that indigent defendants are provided effective, caring counsel with sufficient resources to defend cases against the State
Providing restorative justice, not just punitive justice: healing the victim and restoring the offender to society
Advocating humane and civil treatment of prisoners, their families, and corrections personnel
